Annaharvey Riding School
Annaharvey Farm welcomes you to our AIRE Approved Equestrian Centre. Our horse riding school aims to cater for local clients and those who are visiting the farm.
All levels of rider are catered for, from age 7 years old and upwards including Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced riders.
Training with qualified instructors is available in a variety of disciplines including dressage, show jumping, cross-country, eventing and hacking.
Camps are run throughout the year for both children and adults.
Typically regular weekly horse riding lessons last for 1 hour each week for 6 weeks. Riders are grouped according to competency encouraging a very sociable and enjoyable experience. Our horse riding school is only an hour from Dublin.

Please Note
Group lessons are one hour in duration and are suitable for experienced riders only.
All beginner lessons are on a one-to-one basis (i.e. Private Lesson). We no longer offer group classes for beginners.
There is usually a waiting list for beginners to start. Please contact us in plenty of time.
FAQs

We offer lessons to children aged 8 and upwards. The physical strength and ability to concentrate means older children will normally progress much faster than children aged up to 6 years old.

We do have riding hats and boots in most sizes which riders are welcome to borrow for the duration of their lesson. However, we advise riders invest in their own hat, boots, body protector and breeches if planning to continue riding regularly. Your own hat will always be a better fit. The on-site Tack Shop offers all the essentials.

Yes, of course! We offer private lessons to suit all levels of training from beginners through to FEI competition.

Group lessons will normally have up to 9 riders however this can vary. Where possible we try to have riders of a similar standard in each group. Group lessons are very social and a great way to meet like-minded people.
If you would prefer more individual training please ask about our private lessons.

Therapeutic Riding has been recognised for decades to improve physical, emotional, social, cognitive, behavioural and educational skills as well as being a healthy and fun activity. Annaharvey Farm is proud to have riders participate in the Special Olympics on numerous occasions. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and check our availability.

Dress Code
Head- Up to standard well fitting riding helmet. Scull cap for cross-country. Long hair should be tied up to avoid snagging. Platting, hair nets and buns are best.
Slim glasses are fine. Overly large glasses are not permitted.
Body – Slim fitting long sleeve base layer under an up to standard body protector for all riders under 18 and recommended for all adults. For cooler conditions a jumper or jacket can be fitted over the body protector.
All buttons and zips must be closed as to avoid garment flapping or snagging.
Cross-country- A body protector must be always worn by all riders. Inflatable body protectors must be worn with a body protector. Back protectors are not sufficient.
Not recommended- Hoodies, loose flappy clothes.
Legs- Well fitted horse riding jodhpurs or breeches are best. Slim fitting leggings are OK.
Not permitted – Shorts, dresses, skirts, unnecessary appendages or jeans with large holes.
Hands- Well fitted riding gloves are always best.
False nails, rings and jewellery should be removed to avoid injury.
Feet- Long horse-riding boots are best. Slim flat soled shoe/boot with a small heel are permitted.
Not permitted- Wellies with grips, Runners, footwear with appendages, any footwear that may get stuck in a stirrup.
Jewellery- Wearing jewellery while horse riding is really not recommended. Rings, earrings, necklaces and body piercings can cause injury or make another injury much worse. Risks – catching and pulling causing ripping and bleeding. Puncture wounds as a result of a blow.
The following are not permitted-
False nails or long nails – They will catch and break nails causing bleeding & pain.
False eye lashes- Can come detached and damage eyes.
Long Hair extensions- can snag and cause injury.
Excess makeup- Can run and impair vision.
