Walking

Explore the local area on foot.

At Annaharvey Farm we have lovely walks around the farm, but also we can now reccommend walking at Lough Boora Parklands - an amazing conservation area with wonderful opportunities to see wildlife at it’s best and of course to study the interesting sculptures that various artists have created. There are several kilometres of easy walking through the bog lands, and if you aren't into walking there are also cycle routes available.

Hill Walking is also available in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, an area of uplands, river, and bog which offers serious challenges for the more experienced walker.

Emo Park in Co.Laoise is only 25 mins away by car - home to the Chomley family & now owned by the State, it is a wonderful place to visit. The house built by Gandon, as was the local Church of Ireland, is open during the summer months to visitors, but the grounds are open all year round. Here there is easy walking for families with buggies, or for those who like a "stroll in the park". The lake is full of wildlife from the ducks & swans to birds & fish - a loaf of stale bread is mandatory if you have children with you for the ducks! After your walk, the Cup Cake Cafe is open for a welcome cup of tea, based in the out houses of the old house, it is a warm & welcoming place to take a rest.
